The Apron Dress was my first item from The Assembly Line.
I took a chance with it without having worked on TAL so I had no idea what the quality of the drafting and explanations were. I fell in love with the style lines. I was pleasantly surprised!
The pattern is very well drafted and the explanations are on par with a sewing class - lots of tips for people who are starting their sewing adventures and even some stuff for "old hands".
The dress fit my "apple shaped" body without modifications and I wear it quite often!
If you aren't sure if you want to take a risk with this new-to-you pattern company - take it! It is very worthwhile!

Any tips or advice to other makers? Not sure if you want to try this pattern or The Assembly Line? Go for it!!!
Overall I LOVE this dress.
As a new, self-taught sew human I am used to pattern companies that give more directions. More details, photos of the steps, or videos on more complicated steps. I found some of the lingo hard to follow. I found it was similar to the paper patterns that assume your grandmother taught you how to sew and therefore you don't need much assistance beyond line up the notches. The button illustration was incredibly confusing to the point I just gave up and figured out how to use snaps. (a video would have been so helpful) The LACK of a layered PDF was a disappointment as there were many areas where the patterns overlap and you just gotta wing it and hope for the best. With the price of $30 CAD I would hope there would be a projector file...perhaps they will update the files soon? Fingers crossed.

Hi Newbie,
many thanks for leaving a review!
And so sorry you found the making hard! We will take the video tutorials into consideration; the layering is already on the todo-list, and you will get an updated file as soon as we have finished the work.
Kind regards,
Anki

Any tips or advice to other makers? If you want the waist on the tighter side, make the pockets extra loose at the top.
Who doesn't love a pinafore dress? But I've never been confident enough to try making one before. The simple instructions and technique guide are easy to follow and ensure that you get a great finish on your dress. It even gave me confidence to tackle button holes, there will be no stopping me now. Thank you sew much The Assembly Line, there will be plenty more Apron dresses to come and plenty more TAL patterns too x
I was looking at this pattern for some time, as I am not really a dress person. I purchased it thinking, well lets give it a try, still not entirely sure, as I had a fabric, which was too stiff for trousers. So and I have made the Apron dress and fell in love, so much that I have already cut out the black version.
As always instructions are so detailed, which, as self learner in sewing world are so much appreciated + the pattern fits, no adjustments required (ok had to make it bit shorter due to my body height).
If in doubt - TAL patterns offer Scandinavian minimalism, which is so very chic!
Dress is from Twill fabric in size S
