I'm an advanced beginner and admittedly don't have much experience sewing up woven patterns, much less shirts. This pattern challenged me to my limits. It's gorgeous, but I sat here pondering things that could have been easily explained in the instructions. hemfix tape?? No idea where to get this in North America. Can be replaced with Heat n' Bond, I think. Or I did anyway and seems to be fine. Fusible interfacing- oooook... what kind? There's a million different kinds and weights. I used what I had on hand- no clue if this was the right type. What may be givens for more advanced sewists, were not for me- cut two sleeves MIRRORED. Sleeve facings- cut 2 MIRRORED. This could be easily added to the pattern pieces. Instead I sat there looking at the diagrams trying to decide if the images looked mirrored or not. Instead I cut 2 sleeves exactly the same :( Thankfully I bought extra fabric but I was not thrilled to cut another sleeve. I'd label this pattern an intermediate sew until they fix those simple things in the instructions and pattern pieces. It made me wonder if they have beginner sewists on their testing team? That would also help make these patterns more user friendly.
Hi Catherine, many thanks for the review! Much appreciated with your suggestions on how to make the pattern better and more accessible. Your finished sweater looks great - love the fabric! Kind regards, Anki
